What was Common sense and how did it influence the colonies?

Common sense was a popular pamphlet that challenged the authority of the British government and royal monarchy by Thomas Pain. Common Sense challenged the British government because Thomas Pain encouraged the colonists that the time for independence had come. Common Sense was published in 1776 and sold of 120,000 copies in the first 3 months.
